Mega Ball Live Review

Evolution Gaming have added another new gameshow to their expanding roster. Joining the likes of Monopoly Live, Deal Or No Deal and Dream Catcher is Live Mega Ball. This is a fast paced keno meets bingo style game that gives you the chance to win up x999,999 of your initial stake. Play from just 20p a ticket and see if you can score a full house with the Mega Ball! Live bingo hasn't really taken off online despite many false starts and there are plenty of live number games that aren't quite bingo. So the big question is can Mega Ball Live fill the void for online bingo players seeking a better live game experience? Or is it simply another exciting live game show that will only really appeal to slots and casino players?

What Is Mega Ball Live?

Mega Ball Live can be found in the Live Game Show section of many top casino, slots and bingo brands. When you login to the room you'll find that it comprises of a number ball generator, like the ones you see on National Lottery draws, a bonus wheel and an over enthusiastic presenter dressed in a gold glittery jacket. The set looks like it's been borrowed from The Price Is Right. The presenter is there to chat to players as well as commentate on proceedings. These presenters change every 30 minutes or so and this helps keep the chat fresh and interesting - well as interesting as commentating on numbered balls can possibly be. You can switch the chat off though which can be a useful option! Live games play every few minutes and "fast paced", as Mega Ball Live is described, is an understatement. Games come thick and fast and you need to be on the [Mega] Ball when playing.

How To Play Mega Ball

To play Mega Ball Live you need to first purchase cards. You can play between 1 and 200 cards per game. Tickets at Jackpotjoy start at 10p but the wager can be increased to 20p, £1, £2, £5 or £10. Each ticket is a 5x5 grid of numbers between 1 and 50. The middle number is free! Once you've purchased your tickets the game begins amd the numbers start to be revealed from the lottery style machine. Just 20 balls are drawn from the machine and the aim of the game is to mark off as many numbers on your ticket as possible. Pretty much like any bingo game. However unlike a typical bingo game the aim of Mega Ball is not to get a full house before the other players. This is simply because you can't! The aim is to complete as many lines on your ticket as possible to be a winner. Complete at least one line for a push win (return of your stake). Two lines generates a x4 win, three lines x49 and five lines x999! Get six lines or more and you'll win x9999 your initial stake. In many respects it's a bit like Slingo but the lotto machine replaces the slots number generator.

The Mega Ball

However there's a twist on Megal Ball Live and that twist comes in the form of the aptly named Mega Ball. This is the 21st ball to be called in the game. Before this number is called the multiplier wheel spins. This can generate values like x5, x10, x50 or higher - up to x100. If the Mega Ball then completes a line, two lines etc on your card then you win the usual prize multiplied by the value of the multiplier. For example if you needed 10 to complete just one line and 10 is the Mega Ball with a multiplier of x15 then you win x15 your stake and not x1 had you won during the base game. Occasionally there may be two Mega Balls called during a game. We believe that this occurs when it pops up as the first Mega Ball but it's not totally clear. Although according to the presenter (at time of writing) they'd never seen this feature. Once the game gets underway you just need to sit back and watch the balls drop. Your tickets are auto daubed and then arranged according to the ones that are winning. Tickets also indicate potential Mega Ball wins too.

Our Verdict

We tried Mega Ball Live and enjoyed it immensely. It's a bingo meets keno style game and it boasts a lot more life than many online bingo rooms. The presenters add an extra dimension to game play. In most rounds we completed at least one line when purchasing just 10 cards. The best win was a two line win achieved thanks to the Mega Ball. What we like about Mega Ball is that there is great potential to win a big prize. For example if the multiplier is x50 and you complete one line then that's a massive boost to the usual push prize. You're also playing Mega Ball against the computer so it's not game over for you if other players get one line, two lines etc. Everyone has the chance of winning. There are drawbacks! Sometimes the gamecards are updated faster than the multiplier wheel and Mega Ball draw. This means the presenter is doing the build up to the finale of the round whilst you're moving on to the next game! It's also very fast so just watch your wagering. As we said at the start live bingo hasn't caught on. However Mega Ball has many of the right ingredients and could be the basis for a future live bingo games.
