Gambling Affiliate Closures & Uncompliant Compliance

Earlier in the year Tau Gaming announced that they were offloading a whole bunch of bingo brands that had to date been part of the Dragonfish/Broadway Gaming network. Sites such as Bonnie Bingo, Mint Bingo and Quality Bingo are still active on that platform. For Tau Gaming however it did reduce their portfolio down to just a handful of casino brands including Kaiser Slots, Atlantic Spins and Jaak Casino. Affiliates were told that more new brands were forthcoming to replace those that had gone. Unfortunately that's not materialised and Tau Gaming have decided to close their affiliate program as of the end of the September.
No Big Suprises
In a brief email, Tau stated that they were "writing to inform [you] that the Tau Affiliate Programme will be closing on October 1st 2024" and that there were some minor commission changes for the final month of activity. The company concluded that they "would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your collaboration and support since our launch in 2014" which is pretty decent for this industry where usually you don't even get that. Sadly this closure isn't a big surprise. Losing pretty much the bulk of your portfolio of sites and not replacing them doesn't help to keep affiliates active. The brands that did remain probably also weren't high up on any affiliates promotions list. Ultimately we suspect that the program just wasn't viable and therefore impossible to carry on with. We quite liked Tau as they were always in contact and polite. It's a shame to see them go. Unlike LeoVegas!
When Compliance Isn't Compliant
As a gambling affiliate we're often asked for information about ourselves and the company for compliance reasons. To date we've never had any issues with the documents we've sent any operator. Last week though LeoVegas operating as Gametech Marketing Limited, a LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group company, refused to accept our company bank statement because it was addressed to one of the two owners. The statement showed that the account was for 'Loquax', the company address (as matched to Company House) and a couple of other things which initially they couldn't see such as IBAN number. They wanted us to send another statement which made absolutely no sense as all our business bank statements just show the same information. So despite being compliant and it not needing an astrophysics degree to figure out all was above board they wouldn't accept the statement and therefore our account has been closed.
So Long Mr Green
Thankfully this isn't a big deal because LeoVegas has always been a poor program and not worth our time. As their bingo is powered by Pragmatic Play we think players are better off at PlayOJO, Heart, Butlers Bingo etc. anyway! Like LeoVegas, Mr Green was always one of those casino brands that we always thought would have done better for us as an affiliate. Both had high profiles due to their well known TV ad campaigns but for whatever reason we just couldn't get it to work for us. Not that this matters anymore because William Hill, the owners of Mr Green, have decided to terminate the brand's presence here in The UK. In a recent email they explained that they "have made the strategic decision to realign our focus and refine our business operations by discontinuing our Mr Green brand in the United Kingdom. Consequently, we will be closing down the Mr Green affiliate platform in the United Kingdom". Mr Green UK will be closing at midday on Monday, 30th September so players are advised to withdraw any outstanding balances by that point. It's suggested that Mr Green UK could return in the future.
