Money Drop Live Review

Money Drop Live is the latest addition to the Live Game Show roster. If you're a fan of the TV quiz show hosted by Davina McCall then you're half way there when it comes to understanding how Money Drop works. The big difference here is that Money Drop Live features a spinning wheel and thankfully there are no questions to answer. However the basic game principles remain and that's you have the chance to gamble winnings on the outcome of a random box drop. Pick the right boxes - and strategy - to keep as much of your winnings as possible.

How To Play Money Drop Live

Money Drop Live is played in a live studio with a presenter. The set is basic but then it doesn't need to be as elaborate as Alice's Adventures Beyond Wonderland. Like other game shows Money Drop Live features a large spinning wheel full of segments. These segments comprise various multipliers which you're invited to place bets on. These multipliers include x8, x15, x30, x100, x250, x1000 and x2500. Additionally there's a card clash bonus game. The first stage of the game requires players to be on the various multipliers. Wagers can be placed from 10p and it's possible to bet on all spin outcomes. Once all wagers are placed then the wheel spins.

If the wheel stops on a segment that you've wagered on then you "win" that prize. For example if you place £1 on x100 and that segment is the final stop for the wheel then you have £100. Except you haven't because your win has to be played on Money Drop. For a Quick Drop round you'll be offered a choice of four different boxes - A, B, C and D. You have to decide which of the four boxes you think will be safe and make a selection. Get the right box and you win the prize. However picking the wrong box will see your winnings fall through to the box and lost. On some rounds you may find two boxes remain safe!

Drop Zones & Card Clash

To add extra interest to the game there are options to spread the risk of your win. This is more akin to the Money Drop quiz game where you distribute your win across the boxes thereby increasing the chances that you will retain some of the winnings. If you spread the winnings over all four zones then you know that at least one box will win! Another feature to look out for are multiplier boosts which increase winnings by up to x5000. Finally the Card Clash game is a Hi-Lo style bonus spread over three rounds. Pick the winning side to earn a multiplier on your bet. In the miraculous event of all three rounds being tied then all participants get a x1000 win.

Our Verdict

Live game shows are continuing to increase in popularity and it's easy to see why as the games develop. There's been a huge advancement in graphics, player involvement and gameplay. The basic spin the wheel element still remains here but the money drop round puts strategy into the hands of the player - at least when there's the chance to spread the winnings over the drop zones. Of course there's also the strategy of betting on the wheel spin outcome too. Do you go for the low value multipliers only or cover all bases. There's plenty to think about and this is what makes Money Drop Live a very interesting addition to the live game show portfolio. Go and give it a spin.
